1. Running Back

Last year’s experiment with Mike Davis failed miserably, and that’s about the only reason you need for looking right over free agent running backs.

It’s becoming more and more common for teams not to pay free agent running backs, and that’s because there are plenty of prospects to choose from each year. As intriguing as it may be to entertain a guy like Lamar Miller on a cheap contract, or take a shot on, say, Isaiah Crowell, the Bears would be better served to look towards the draft.

David Montgomery is someone the Bears believe in and want to build the offensive line around, so that we can see his full potential come to fruition. In addition, Tarik Cohen is still a weapon to be used if given the correct opportunities.

Even Cordarrelle Patterson is going to see more snaps at running back this coming season, according to some recent comments from Pace. So, with those three seeing the field often, the Bears really don’t need to add any type of significant back.

Although, let’s say Pace is on the clock in the second round and Jonathan Taylor is sitting there at pick no. 43. How do you ignore him? Even someone like J.K. Dobbins could be looking them right in the face in the second round. That might be too difficult to pass up. In any event, free agency should be focused on other positions — not running back.
