5. S Miles Killebrew, Detroit Lions

It’s no secret that the Bears need to find a long-term solution to the safety position. General manager Ryan Pace would be unwise to go into 2020 with another stop-gap player at the position. This is a temporary solution and one that would mean the Bears are searching for another safety during the 2021 offseason.

That’s why when Miles Killebrew hits the open market, the Bears need to consider him. While he has just four starts in four seasons, he’s still an intriguing player who would be available for a below market cost.

While some will question pursuing a player like Killebrew, it could work out better than most think. The Bears would be allowing Eddie Jackson to freely roam in the defensive backfield rather than take the approach they did in 2019.

Killebrew would also have an opportunity to blossom under the Bears coaching staff and the and veteran leadership of guys like Eddie Jackson. Overall, this is a player who’s a low-risk, high-reward type of player that could be an underrated signing while also giving the Bears a long-term answer to the safety position.
