The Chicago Blackhawks selected Kirby Dach with the third pick in the 2019 NHL draft. He has all of the potentials in the world and he is just learning the way right now. He just turned 19 in January so he is one of the youngest players in the National Hockey League. The offensive numbers are okay for an 18/19-year-old but the most important thing for him right now is working on his development.

He has all the makings of a big top-six centerman. He can use his big frame to get in a good position but he still has some more growing to do in all areas of his game. He currently has 8 goals and 12 assists for 20 points in 59 games played. If he can have a strong finish to the season for Chicago, that would go a long way for him going into next season. He is expected to be an impact player for the Blackhawks during his career and developing right now is the main key.

If Dach comes into next year and turns the corner offensively, that could be a key to this team making the playoffs. He would be a perfect second-line center behind Toews until Toews hands the torch over him on the top line. He wasn’t even guaranteed to make the team at all this year so the fact that he has stuck around is impressive. It is not his fault that the team is where they are in the standings. If anything, they had a deeper team with him there than maybe a replacement-level player.
