Chicago Bears Draft: 5 receivers to replace Taylor Gabriel
3. Donovan Peoples-Jones | Michigan
It’s hard to imagine what Donovan Peoples-Jones‘ collegiate career would have amounted to had he not been the victim of poor quarterback play. A former top-recruit, Peoples-Jones has an NFL frame and freakish athleticism. It’s that same confidence, athleticism, and potential that will make the former 5-star recruit a valid candidate for the Chicago Bears.

Now, DPJ isn’t the same type of player that the Bears had in Taylor Gabriel, but the Michigan product could be deployed in the same manner. If anything, Peoples-Jones is not a burner but could take the top off the defense every so often, while also being utilized more creatively in certain situations. If we really think about it, the Bears didn’t utilize Gabriel as just a speed threat but instead deployed him around the field and in various capacities for the betterment of the offense as a whole.
I know I’ll get backlash because Peoples-Jones isn’t a primary deep threat, but I added him to the list because the Bears could stand to add a well-rounded receiver with a speed element to replace Gabriel. Couple that with the fact that I don’t see Peoples-Jones going until late day two, and it starts to make a lot more sense for a team like Chicago.
