Chicago Bears: Free agents nobody is talking about

3. TE Tyler Eifert
Adam Shaheen, Trey Burton, Jesper Horsted, Ben Braunecker, and Demetrius Harris. That’s currently what the Bears tight end room is set to look like. Shaheen and Burton have been disappointments while Horsted, Braunecker, and Harris are all insurance policies.
Perhaps the Bears should consider adding Tyler Eifert to that mix. With Austin Hooper, Hunter Henry, and Eric Ebron as the top three tight ends in the 2020 Free Agent Class, Eifert will end up being available during the second wave.
A big target at 6-foot-6, Eifert has averaged 11.6 yards per reception during his time with the Cincinnati Bengals. He’s never been a top tier tight end as he has just 2152 receiving yards in seven seasons but he is the kind of second-string tight end who’d push a guy like Shaheen.
The only major issue with Eifert is his durability. At various points during his career, he’s been placed on the injured reserve list. This is an issue since the Bears also dealt with tight end injuries in 2019.
Eifert’s price tag, primarily due to his injuries will be much cheaper than much expect. He’s not a true mismatch weapon by any means but is a capable receiving tight end who could be a good option for a team that wants to bring some competition to the tight end room this offseason.
