Bad decisions by Stan Bowman

The Chicago Blackhawks have one major reason for being where they are in the standings and thus sellers at the deadline. That is because of the decisions made by their general manager, Stan Bowman. He has made some costly mistakes for the organization that has caused them to go from an annual Stanley Cup contender to an annual lottery team.

The worst of his work has come when he makes trades. Trading Artemi Panarin for Brandon Saad is one of the worst decisions in the history of Chicago sports. Panarin has developed into one of the ten best players in the world. He is doing even better than Patrick Kane if you can believe it. That is the big trade that he missed on, but trading Henri Jokiharju, Niklas Hjalmarsson, Teuvo Teravainen, Phillip Danault, Vinnie Hinostroza, and Nick Schmaltz away for lesser players also need to be taken into consideration.

Those are all players that could have been fit into the future if they were just managed properly. This team would probably still be a legit threat to win the Stanley Cup right now if they kept a majority of those guys in the fold. Instead, they were forced to be sellers at the deadline for the third year in a row.
