1. Brycen Hopkins, Purdue

Let’s start with Brycen Hopkins, who’s considered by many to be the best tight end in the 2020 NFL Draft. If the Bears are looking to find a tight end who can run routes like a wide receiver, then Hopkins is their guy.

Throughout his time in college, Hopkins proved that he could be a mismatch at the tight end position. He’s shown the ability to operate from the slot as well which means he can play in a few different spots in the Bears offense.

Hopkins has also proven that he can make a variety of contested catches, showing up in the toughest of situations. He may not have breakaway speed but he’s proven that when it comes to yards after the catch, this is an area where he can be more than serviceable.

During his time in college, Hopkins averaged 15 yards per reception, along with 130 receptions, 1945 receiving yards, and 16 touchdowns. He’s shown he can be a big-play threat in on offense and this should translate to the NFL.

It’s fair to expect Hopkins to be on the board when the Bears pick at 43rd overall. Unless he absolutely blows away the competition at the combine, it’s very unlikely that he goes in the first round.
