Trade 3

The Chicago Blackhawks would love to add some defensive prospects to their system. The Vancouver Canucks would make great sense for a trade like this. Jett Woo would be a great one to add for the Hawks in exchange for Saad. They would also need to throw in a 2020 third-round pick and a 2021 second-round trade for this deal to be fair for the Hawks. It would be those two picks instead of a 2020 first-rounder because the already traded it.

Woo is a defenseman that the Canucks took with their second round, 37th overall, in the 2018 NHL Draft. He currently plays defense for the Calgary Hitman of the OHL. He would be a key defensive prospect for the Hawks for a long time if the went in that direction. Along with the two draft picks, the Hawks would be adding some youth to the system.

Saad would go to a Vancouver team that could really use one more scorer. They didn’t go into the season with many people believing they would make the playoffs but now they are in a position to do so. They just made a pretty big trade to get Tyler Toffoli in the mix. Then it came out that their star right-winger Brock Boeser is probably out for the season. That is why adding Saad for the rest of the season and all of next season would be worth giving up some draft capital for if they view making the playoffs as something they absolutely need to do this season.

Saad also has the experience that he can help that young Vancouver team with. Not many of those players have gone on deep playoff runs so adding a younger guy who has some of it could go a long way. If they view the assets they would need to give up as the key to the future then they might now just stand pat, but adding Saad would be awesome for them.

It is no guarantee that the Hawks move Saad before Monday’s trade deadline as he still has another year on his deal.  The fact that he has that extra year might be what makes other teams pay more for him. These are just three out of a bunch of trade scenarios that would make sense for the Blackhawks and the potential partner.
