Chicago Bears: How good can they be next season?
By Ryan Fedrau
If the Bears can fix their issues in the offseason, the Bears will be a playoff team again. I’m giving Coach Nagy a second chance, you all should too. The same goes for Trubisky, both of them deserve a second chance.
The second chance extends through 2020 if the Bears become a playoff team again. If they mess up during the offseason and they miss the playoffs in 2020, there will be a lot of changes made. The three biggest changes will come at the general manager spot, head coach, and quarterback.
The regular season ceiling I give the Bears right now is 12-4. I chose 12-4 for two reasons, they’ve done it before with this roster, and they’re not beating Green Bay twice. In the playoffs, it’s a different game. They could go 12-4 and win the Super Bowl, that’s their overall ceiling.
The “floor” for the Bears is 4-12. They’ll beat the Lions twice and the Vikings at least once. A lot of things could go wrong for Chicago. If they go 4-12 with no injuries at quarterback, the three big changes I brought up earlier will happen.
My personal pick right now is 10-6. If they can beat Green Bay once and Los Angeles, they’ll be 12-4. I don’t think they’ll beat the Packers twice, so that’s one loss.
I see them losing to the Saints, Texans for sure. The Titans will be another tough game, depending on if Derrick Henry is still there. I’m leaving the Giants game open because I have no idea how well Daniel Jones will play in his second season. There are a lot of question marks surrounding him.
Can 10-6 give them a playoff spot? Yes. I do believe they need to win 11 or more to guarantee it. If they fix things in the offseason, the playoffs are very possible.
