Chicago Cubs: How starting rotation stacks up against NL Central
By Ryan Sikes
The Cincinnati Reds arguably have the best rotation in the NL Central division.
Pitching will be critical for the Cubs in 2020. On paper, they figure to have one of the better rotations in the National League, but the games within their division are going to be more meaningful than in recent seasons. Everyone but the Pittsburgh Pirates could very well take home the NL Central crown. Let’s see how the Cubs’ rotation ranks against their counterparts.
Starter #1
- Luis Castillo (Reds)
- Jack Flaherty (Cardinals)
- Yu Darvish (Cubs)
- Brandon Woodruff (Brewers)
- Joe Musgrove (Pirates)
Starter #2
- Kyle Hendricks (Cubs)
- Sonny Gray (Reds)
- Dakota Hudson (Cardinals)
- Adrian Houser (Brewers)
- Trevor Williams (Pirates)
Starter #3
- Trevor Bauer (Reds)
- Miles Mikolas (Cardinals)
- Jon Lester (Cubs)
- Chris Archer (Pirates)
- Brett Anderson (Brewers)
Starter #4
- Adam Wainwright (Cardinals)
- Anthony DeSclafani (Reds)
- Jose Quintana (Cubs)
- Mitch Keller (Pirates)
- Josh Lindblom (Brewers)
Starter #5
- Wade Miley (Reds)
- Eric Lauer (Brewers)
- Kwang-Hyun Kim (Cardinals)
- Tyler Chatwood (Cubs)
- Steven Brault (Pirates)
The Cincinnati Reds have the best rotation in not only the NL Central but the National League. They found some bats this offseason and could be the team to beat. That said, the Cubs rotation is right there but lacks the strength that they once had at the back of their rotation.
These rankings are subjective and could be ranked differently by ten different people, but that’s the beauty of preseason. Up next are the infielder rankings of the NL Central.
