4. What about the defensive line?

Defensive line is one of the most complete position groups on the Bears roster. With Akiem Hicks and Eddie Goldman being the face of the position group, the Bears have solid players like Bilal Nichols, Roy Robertson-Harris, and Nick Williams that were all excellent in 2019.

However, Robertson-Harris, Williams, and Brent Urban are free agents this offseason meaning the Bears have some work to do. Ideally, the Bears want to figure out a way to bring two of those three names back.

The emphasis needs to be placed on Robertson-Harris and Williams. Robertson-Harris may not stuff the stat sheet however he’s proven to be a valuable player in terms of getting after the quarterback and creating opportunities for others. On the other hand, Nick Williams had a breakout season in 2019 at the age of 29 with six sacks.

If it does come down to an either-or situation where the Bears can only retain Robertson-Harris or Williams, it might be best to bring back Robertson-Harris because he’s younger and continues to grow at the position.

What the Bears cannot do is let both walk. Doing so would be an issue because then in 2020, it’d be Hicks, Goldman, Nichols, and Abdullah Anderson under contract with Anderson as the lone depth piece.
