The Chicago Bears may add talent at the wide receiver position this offseason. If they elect for free agency, these players could be bargains.

General manager Ryan Pace likely will not spend big in free agency this year. Actually, he can’t — unless he opts to cut a few players and use a big chunk of the money saved on one particular player. Odds are, though, the 2020 Chicago Bears won’t be flashy during the free agency period.

This offseason is an important one, as many of us have stated here, and as I’m sure many fans already know. Chicago does not have a lot of financial wiggle room. Again, we have noted a couple of times that, per Over The Cap, the Bears currently have about $5 million in cap space.

Spotrac has the Bears at roughly $13 million effective cap space for 2020.

Regardless, the point is that the Bears do not have a bunch of money to spend. Yet, they have some holes to fill. Whether you want to throw out the tight end position, or possibly offensive line, Chicago certainly has some dire needs at the top of their list.

So, how would receiver become a need?

Taylor Gabriel is one of the players the Bears could elect to cut in order to save some money. Gabriel’s cap hit is $6.5 million for the 2020 season. If they decide to cut him, Pace will have to find his replacement either via the draft or free agency.

Luckily, if you look at the free agent pool, there are some values to be had. Let’s check out five particular options who would be less pricey than the top tier.
