2. Bashaud Breeland

One guy I am constantly puzzled over is Bashaud Breeland. Over the last couple of years, it seems as though teams forget he exists. Either that, or they forget just how valuable of an asset he can be — especially on a good-to-great team.

After his 2017 season, I was convinced Breeland was going to get a big pay day. In fact, in a way, he did. The Carolina Panthers signed him to a 3-year deal worth $24 million. But, after undergoing his physical, Breeland’s foot became an issue. The Panthers rescinded the deal.

He ended up signing late with Green Bay (for less than $1 million, shockingly) and appearing in seven games during the 2018 season.

For a guy who accumulated 60 passes defended over his first four seasons, Breeland’s career definitely took a dive. But, he’s proven to be healthy and a strong contributor once again in Kansas City.

Now, he might be in line for a bit more money this offseason. Will he command the same type of deal the Panthers once offered? Probably not — which is a positive for the Bears.

While Breeland is definitely a great option for the slot, I think the Bears would be just as wise to bring him in to see what he could do on the outside, opposite Kyle Fuller.
