Chicago Bears Free Agency: 4 bargain cornerbacks to consider
By Ryan Heckman
1. Mackensie Alexander
The Minnesota Vikings are in quite a quandary when it comes to their cornerback room. The most important player in that group, this offseason, is impending free agent Trae Waynes. The Vikings have to find a way to bring him back, as he’s become their best outside cornerback over the last two seasons.

Then, there is Xavier Rhodes — who somehow managed to make the 2020 Pro Bowl as a replacement. Honestly, they could have picked any other NFC cornerback and it would have made more sense than Rhodes. But, that’s a conversation for another day.
Other than bringing back Rhodes, the Vikings will likely want to re-sign Mackensie Alexander, a former second-round pick out of Clemson.
Alexander served mainly as a reserve over his first four seasons in the NFL (all with Minnesota) but he’s been a solid one. Just this last season, he started four games (appearing in 13) and came up with five passes defended. Two years ago, Alexander started six times while appearing in 15 games and defended a whopping 10 passes.
He’s a good cornerback. He definitely has a nose for the football. If he came at a cheaper price, which he might, the Bears should throw their name in the hat.
