Chicago Bears: Malik Stanley would add nice depth at WR
Q&A with Malik Stanley – Part II
DWC: You had a really nice performance in the Independence Bowl against the University of Miami. Tell me about that experience.
MS: Oh man, I can’t even really describe it. To be in that situation — being my first bowl game of my whole collegiate career — it was amazing honestly. To be able to play that type of Power 5 team and to show up the way I did, I think it was really good for me. I was blessed.
DWC: Yeah, I was going to ask you — having that type of performance against a team like Miami — does that give you confidence as you go through this draft process?
MS: Oh yeah, most definitely. I mean, I feel like that was a game where I showed I was locked in and demonstrated what I can do. I feel like I left it all out there playing my last game.
DWC: What are you going to miss the most about your time at Louisiana Tech?
MS: The brotherhood for sure. That group of guys that took me in and made me feel like I was there for four years. That’s something I’ll never forget. From the head coach to the strength coach to the graduate assistants. Everyone took me in.
DWC: What are some of the things you are fine-tuning as you head into the draft?
MS: My technique and my start on the 40-yard dash. That’s one of the main things. But I’m trying to improve every day.
DWC: Is there an aspect of your game you think might be underrated?
MS: I think I would say my route-running ability. Some people might not think my routes are fine-tuned, but I think they are.
DWC: Let’s say it’s the night before the NFL Draft and you’re in a room with Bears’ general manager Ryan Pace. What would you want to tell him?
MS: If he drafted me, he is going to get 100 percent out of me every day. He’d be getting a hard worker who is trying to improve every day. I’m someone that can quickly learn a new offense and I would do everything I can to help the Bears succeed.
DWC: Is there someone in your life that has been an inspiration who has helped you get to this point?
MS: I would say, my mother. She has always been that person in my life. And my grandma. They’re both strong women.
DWC: So what are your plans for draft night?
MS: I’ll probably have a small group of friends and family over for a small get-together.
DWC: What are some of the things you enjoy doing off the field?
MS: I like to play Playstation 2K and Call of Duty. I’m also a big Lakers fan — I’m a big fan of Lebron.
DWC: I really appreciate you sitting down with us Malik. Thank you so much for taking some time out again. I wish you the best of luck the rest of the way and on draft night.
MS: I appreciate you as well. Thanks for the call.
