The Chicago Bears might be looking to add some depth to the wide receiver position even if it’s not a perceived position of need.

At first glance, the Chicago Bears may not seem to need to address the wide receiver position in the 2020 NFL Draft. However, Taylor Gabriel could be a salary-cap casualty this offseason, Javon Wims never blossomed last year the way some had thought, Anthony Miller continues to deal with a shoulder injury, and Riley Ridley hardly saw the field in 2019.

Add to that the fact that their best receiver, Allen Robinson, is an unrestricted free agent after this upcoming season, despite his desire for a long-term contract.

With all that said, it should not surprise anyone if Ryan Pace looks to add some depth towards the backend of the draft, and one prospect that might interest him is Louisiana Tech University’s, Malik Stanley.

The extremely physical Stanley has strong hands, a big body, wide catch radius and the kind of toughness that would endear him to the fans of the Windy City. After playing his first two seasons at South Alabama, he transferred to La Tech this past season where he put up 649 receiving yards, on 40 receptions, to go along with three touchdowns.

While some might downplay the competition Stanley faced in Conference USA, he put those questions to rest to an extent with his three catch, 75-yard performance against the University of Miami in this years’ Independence Bowl.

We recently caught up with Malik as he prepares for the draft to learn a little more about this very intriguing prospect.
