Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Mitchell Trubisky can breathe, for now
By Ryan Heckman
If the Bears see Antonio Gandy-Golden on the board in the sixth round, it is going to be hard to pass on this kid. Depending on what the Bears do in free agency, they could still be looking to add another wide receiver.
There is a strong chance they move on from Taylor Gabriel this offseason, in order to expand their cap room. if they do so, Ryan Pace will have to bring in another wideout to replace him.
A low-cost option, of course, is going via the draft. But, this low-cost option could end up paying huge dividends.
Gandy-Golden is a polarizing prospect. Some aren’t nearly as high on him as others are, but one thing cannot be denied: His frame is that of an ideal outside NFL receiver.
The senior out of Liberty stands 6-foot-4, 220 pounds and looks every bit of the big-bodied target Chicago might be lacking (one could argue Javon Wims needs a lot more playing time, too).
Over the past two seasons, Gandy-Golden has finished with 10 touchdowns each, giving him 20 during his collegiate career. Last season, Gandy-Golden caught 79 passes for 1,396 yards, good for a 17.7 yards-per-catch average.
He’s definitely used to being a high-volume target and would bring another dimension to the offense, especially around the red zone.
