Chicago Blackhawks: Three New York Rangers to trade for
The New York Rangers might be looking to trade Jesper Fast as well. He is the same age as Kreider and he plays on the opposite wing. The only thing is that Fast is not as productive as Kreider. It would be much cheaper for the Blackhawks to go after Fast then it would Kreider. He is still a good player that would be either a nice compliment on a scoring line or on a depth line. He would bring some extra skill to the Blackhawks top nine if they decided they needed that.
Fast has eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points in 50 games for the Rangers. He is currently on pace for 36 points which would be his career-high. Those are not needle-moving statistics but they are good enough to consider him a productive bottom-six guy. The Blackhawks don’t have a lot of depth beyond their stars to be considered a sure-fire playoff team so adding a guy like Fast would be a smart idea.
Fast, like Kreider, is also an unrestricted free agent. He would likely just be a few month rental player for any team in the playoff race that takes a chance on him. He isn’t going to require a huge contract once this year is over either so maybe he can even be a guy that sticks around for a while. This is the type of trade that could be considered a low risk/high reward type of deal. It wouldn’t cost much to get him and he could possibly provide something valuable.
