Some recent news has us wondering if the Chicago Bears would attempt to trade for Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

It is now officially the offseason for all 32 teams after the conclusion of Super Bowl LIV. We could all go on and on about how seeing Patrick Mahomes win it all feels a tad bitter as Chicago Bears fans. But, whining about it does nothing. So, let’s move on.

Prior to the game on Sunday, the NFL world was given an interesting piece of information by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Everyone has been wondering what is going to happen with New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Will he be allowed to test free agency? If so, which teams will he entertain offers from? After all, Brady isn’t going to settle for just any team, nor will he play for just any coach.

Well, as I said, Schefter made it abundantly clear on Sunday morning that there is a team which will make a hard push to sign Brady if he was allowed to leave New England.

Jon Gruden and the Oakland Raiders seem like an oddly sensible match for Brady, should he become a free agent. The Raiders were in the midst of a potential playoff berth late in the season, when many didn’t believe they had a shot going into 2019.

The way I look at this report is simple. If the Raiders are indeed interested in signing Brady, what does that say about their commitment to current starter Derek Carr?

For this reason, there is absolutely no excuse for general manager Ryan Pace not to check into yet another possible trade with the Raiders.

Once upon a time it was a blockbuster deal for Khalil Mack, the next, it was a minor swap for kicker Eddy Pineiro. This time, the deal might just shake up the NFC North in a way close to how the Mack trade did.

So, how would the Bears go about executing a trade for Carr? At this point, you wonder if Schefter’s report puts interested teams in the driver’s seat. Oakland can’t be 100 percent committed to Carr — there’s no way.

With that said, let’s look at a couple of potential trade scenarios along with how the Bears would operate going forward.
