Chicago Blackhawks: 3 Ottawa Senators to acquire via trade
Trading for Jean-Gabriel Pageau could end up being just more than a depth move for Chicago. He is on an expiring contract as well as a forward but this is a guy you would consider trying to extend if he was acquired in a trade. They might have to pay a little more to trade for him because of how good he has been this season but he might be worth it if the Hawks are truly trying to win right now.
Pageau currently has 20 goals and 12 assists for 32 points in 48 games. His assist total doesn’t scream that he makes everyone around him better but he definitely can put the puck in the net. Those 20 goals in only 48 games don’t grow on trees. In fact, he would be third on the Hawks in goals. He would only be trailing Dominik Kubalik (21) and Patrick Kane (25) in that department. Trading for a guy who is on pace for 33 goals is something that should be considered by every playoff hopeful.
If the Hawks added Pageau to their third line and he scored at the exact same clip as he is in Ottawa, that would be amazing for the scoring depth on this team. They can’t rely on their stars to get it done every single night so bringing in a guy with that sort of goal scoring pedigree would look really nice. He might even be able to help get some of the struggling bottom-six forwards going offensively. This would be an awesome trade for the Chicago Blackhawks at the right price.
