The Chicago Blackhawks could be looking to add at the deadline if they don’t fall out of the playoff mix and Canada’s capital might have a few options.

The Chicago Blackhawks are going to see where they stand going into the trade deadline before making any decisions. If they come out of the break on a downward spiral then they are going to be sellers. If they come out with the same momentum they went into it with, they could be buyers. They have won five of their last six games and have done so in impressive fashion. For that reason, it is fair to be confident in their chances of at least staying in the race.

One team that is for sure going to be sellers is the Ottawa Senators. They currently have a record of 18-23-7 which is good for third to last in the entire Eastern Conference. Those 45 standings points are also only good for the fifth-worst in the entire National Hockey League. To be honest, that is a bit of an overachievement for them so far this year. They were the worst team in the league last season and many expected more of the same this year.

They have a bright future so they would like to brighten it some more by trading away some expiring contracts that they don’t plan on retaining for next season and beyond. They have some players that could play a key depth role on a team looking to squeeze into the playoffs. A team like the Blackhawks would be perfect to talk to for the Senators if the Hawks decided they want to be buyers. These three Senators would make the most sense for Chicago:
