Chicago Blackhawks: 3 moves to save Stan Bowman’s job
Dominik Kubalik Trade
Another move that has been incredible for Stan Bowman and the Chicago Blackhawks was bringing in Dominik Kubalik from the Czech Republic. He was looking to come to the NHL so the Los Angeles Kings traded his NHL rights to the Blackhawks on January 24th, 2019. He signed with them and has ultimately made a big impact.
He has been so good that he has inserted himself in the conversation for the Calder Trophy as the league’s top rookie. He is likely too far behind Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche to win but a nomination would be really cool for him. He has 21 goals and 11 assists for 32 points as a Blackhawks rookie. It has been a really good year for him as he has started to find some great chemistry with Jonathan Toews on the top line.
He has provided some scoring depth to this team. Alex DeBrincat hasn’t been scoring as much as we would have guessed but Kubalik has been making up for it. If DeBrincat were able to pick it up that would be tremendous for this team as it would then have so many capable snipers going. This was definitely a move that is considered a win for Stan Bowman. If they make it to the playoffs, Kubalik will get a lot of praise for his play.
