Chicago Blackhawks: 3 moves to save Stan Bowman’s job
Signing Robin Lehner
The Blackhawks knew that Corey Crawford has had some injury issues over the past few seasons when last season ended so they made a move to act on it. They signed Vezina Trophy finalist Robin Lehner to a one year deal to come in and platoon the net with Crawford. That has clearly been a strong decision for Chicago as he has come in and played very well.

Crawford has been good on most nights but there have been moments where Lehner has been great. He is going to get a big, fat contract this summer whether it is with Chicago or someone else.
Lehner has given the Blackhawks a chance to win pretty much every single game that he has been in net. If Stan Bowman would not have made this signing, this team might be way lower in the standings.
This team does not defend very well but they can score. They give up a lot of high danger chances but at the expense of giving up just as many. In order to win games playing that way, you absolutely need good goaltending.
Lehner has done that for them along with Crawford. It has also given Crawford a lot of extra rest that he may have not had if Chicago were to not have signed Lehner. This is probably the number one offseason move that currently has them in contention.
