85. . D. New Jersey Devils. Sami Vatanen. 1. player

The Chicago Blackhawks could really use some help on the back end. They could look to New Jersey for some help in that department. Sami Vatanen is a solid NHL veteran who would come into Chicago and really help. With the losses of Brent Seabrook and Calvin de Haan to injury this season, they could really use some extra help. Vatanen has been good for New Jersey for most of the season despite the team not being so good around him.

More from Da Windy City

Vatanen’s point production has been pretty good this season with all things considered. He has five goals and 17 assists for 22 points in 44 games for New Jersey.

He can be a big help for Chicago who has a big hole on the back end. He contributes in all three areas of hockey as he can kill penalties, play on the power play, and be a good player at even strength. This would be an extremely nice addition for the Blackhawks down the stretch.

This is a player on an expiring contract so it could be on the cheaper side if they don’t agree to a deal before a trade. It would be really interesting to see Vatanen get a chance with a guy like Patrick Kane on the power play.

He has worked really well with Taylor Hall in the past so playing with Kane would come naturally to him. Adding a good top-four defenseman to this group would really help their chances.
