5. Kaden Smith, New York Giants

A rookie who’s heading into his second season, Kaden Smith showed enough potential to be the New York Giants second-string tight end. While he played in just nine games, he’d start six of them and have 31 receptions, averaging 8.6 yards per reception.

While the Giants see Smith as a potential building block, they also have multiple needs all across the roster and need to address them by drafting and developing talent. That’s where the Bears come into the picture.

Ryan Pace could easily offer a fourth or fifth-round draft pick that could make Giants general manager Dave Gettleman intrigued by such an offer. New York already has Evan Engram as their main tight end on the roster so getting an extra draft pick would allow them to find a diamond in the rough.

Smith would come in and compete with Adam Shaheen for the second string tight end. It’s tough to determine whether he’s really better than Trey Burton but if 2019 proved anything, it’s that he could legitimately push anyone for playing time.

Overall, Smith is a low-risk, high-reward type player who would be under contract until 2022. The Bears wouldn’t lose much by bringing him in and since he’s still learning the tight end position, he could end up being the face of the tight end group at some point down the road if he continues to develop at the rate he is.
