4. Mike Gesicki, Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins are easily the NFL’s most interesting team this offseason. They’re projected to have 14 draft picks but will likely look to make a few trades in order to acquire top-end talent rather than just filling the roster with depth players.

Yet one name that’s intriguing is tight end Mike Gesicki, who was a second-round pick in 2018. Gesicki had a quiet but encouraging rookie season that saw him post 22 receptions for 202 yards. Yet in 2019, despite starting just five games, Gesicki took a major step forward and with 51 receptions for 570 yards, and five touchdowns.

If the Dolphins do decide to revamp the tight end room, Gesicki is a guy worth considering. All throughout college, one of his biggest strengths was being able to run down the seam but then also run a variety of routes. Additionally, he’s also got excellent hands, as well as a big catch radius.

Gesicki would likely cost no more than a fourth or fifth-round pick. For the Bears, this would end up being a low-risk, high reward kind of trade. If the Dolphins don’t want more draft picks, then the Bears could offer a player like wide receiver Javon Wims that would give Miami a big-bodied receiver who can come down with 50-50 balls.

Gesicki would come in and compete instantly for the starting tight end position and even push guys like Adam Shaheen and J.P. Holtz off the roster.  This might be the one player that the Bears need to watch closely.
