Goalies

In order to make it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, you need good goaltending. The Chicago Blackhawks have that. Corey Crawford and Robin Lehner make up one of the best goaltending duos in the entire National Hockey League. There is some talk that one or both of them could get moved if they were way out of it by the trade deadline because they are both on expiring contracts.

Right now, that doesn’t seem like that will be the case because of how close they are to a playoff spot. If they are in a playoff spot or within five or six points there is no way they trade either of them. This is a team that had playoff hopes going into the season and both goalies need to be there if that is going to happen.

It has been very good for both of them to play every other game. Corey Crawford had some injury issues over the previous few seasons so grabbing Lehner has been a very good move. Lehner was nominated for the Vezina Trophy in 2019 with the New York Islanders. The Hawks gave him a one year “see if you can do it again” type deal and he is delivering. It might be wise for Chicago to keep him and try and extend him no matter what happens in the standings. Both of them are going to play well down the stretch and help get this team to the playoffs.
