Quarterback Jordan Love, Utah State

Projected Round(s): 1st

Must trade up if available pick 20 or later

This week at Senior Bowl practice, Jordan Love has shown out and, at times, has been the best quarterback on the field. That means he’s looked even better than a guy like Justin Herbert, who is a surefire first-round talent.

There may not be a more polarizing quarterback in this draft than Love, who has a lot of folks split on what he’ll actually bring to the NFL. Looking at his tape, you see a wide variety of throws he can make. Love may have the best overall arm talent in this year’s draft. His highlight reels will prove he can make every throw in the book, including the long ball.

At the same time, you’ll see mistakes, which could be attributed to a few things. First, he’s absolutely made some flat-out poor throws throughout his college career. But, his arsenal of weapons, especially this past year, hasn’t been ideal. He’s dealt with drops — and that’s one of the main reasons why you can’t afford to box score scout him.

Love has the mobility you want to see in a quarterback today, on top of being able to make tight window throws on the run.

If the Bears want to shoot their shot at the quarterback position, once again, Love would be an intriguing guy to trade up for. If they can package their two second-round picks to move up and snag Love in the first round, I wouldn’t be opposed to it.

Allow Love to come in and compete hard, and ultimately start the season as the backup. If Trubisky struggles, we’ll see what happens. Regardless, Love might be the guy for the Bears in the future.
