If the Chicago Bears are serious about solving their quarterback issue, they’ll do whatever they can to draft Anthony Gordon.

It’s no secret the Chicago Bears need to improve their quarterback room, and if they’re serious about doing so, then that renovation needs to include Washington State University’s, Anthony Gordon. Whether Ryan Pace makes that happen will not be known until April, but if he doesn’t, it could be another monumental miss at the most important position in sports.

So far, Pace’s track record in evaluating quarterbacks has left a lot to be desired. After signing Mike Glennon to a lucrative deal, he traded up to select Mitchell Trubisky in the 2017 NFL Draft. Glennon started just four games and was released after one season. The jury might still be out on Trubisky, but his significant regression in year three suggests a verdict may be reached soon.

Regardless, the Bears took substantial steps to improve the infrastructure around whomever they bring in this offseason. New offensive coordinator Bill Lazor and quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo both have an excellent track record working with and developing quarterbacks. With Chase Daniel and Tyler Bray no longer being under contract, it seems logical they’ll have two new faces to work with when OTAs kick-off.

If the Bears were wise, Gordon would be one of those faces. The California native spent the 2019 season setting a number of Pac-12 and school records, and for a myriad of reasons, he would be a home run pick for the Bears. We had an opportunity to sit down with Anthony recently to talk about his journey to the NFL, but first, we breakdown why he’d be such a terrific pickup for Chicago.
