Trade No. 2

I truly believe these Bulls aren’t far away from blowing it up once again and starting another rebuild. This current rebuild hasn’t worked, and it may be time to start compiling picks and looking ahead to how yet another rebuild would benefit the team.

Look, as a fan, I’m not too fond of the idea of another rebuild — but, this front office has failed to make the current attempt work so far.

One wrong to be righted here is the pitiful contract of Cristiano Felicio. The Mavs would get Lauri Markaknen while taking on the rest of Felicio’s deal, and in return, Chicago would get veteran guard Courtney Lee and a first-round pick.

So far this season, Lee hasn’t played a whole lot — and likely wouldn’t play much in Chicago. But, that’s not why the Bulls would make this deal.

Chicago would make this deal because, not only are they getting rid of Felicio’s contract, they also inherit that $12 million expiring contract in Lee. In total, they’re opening up about $25 million in cap space when this summer hits by making this trade.

Oh, and they get another first-round pick to work with. So, the Bulls deal an underwhelming Markkanen (yes, underwhelming) but get another first-round pick and tons more cap space going forward.
