Chicago Bears: Defensive prospects to watch at Senior Bowl
By Usayd Koshul
1. CB Kristian Fulton, LSU
One of the top cornerback prospects for the 2020 NFL Draft, Kristian Fulton is a guy that could easily take over opposite Kyle Fuller to form a cornerback tandem that will give opposing offenses issues for years to come.
The overall deal with Fulton is that he’s a guy who’s incredibly smart in man coverage and has excellent footwork. Wherever he gets drafted, he’ll be a true number one cornerback that will immediately contribute from day one.
Like any prospect, Fulton isn’t perfect and can improve in a few areas. First, he could get better at being a more effective run stopper. This is especially important in the Bears defensive scheme since there were times in 2019 where the cornerback was asked to play the run. Second, Fulton needs to learn how to be a better tackler. If he can fix both these issues, he can burst onto the scene at the NFL level during his rookie season.
Right now, it’s hard to project where exactly Fulton could be drafted. On one hand, he could be the second cornerback off the board after Ohio State’s Jeffery Okudah but on the other hand, he could end up slipping in the draft to the point where the Bears may have an opportunity to trade up for him.
