Chicago Bears 2020 NFL Mock Draft: Quarterback, tight end issues solved
By Ryan Heckman
Finally, at no. 176 the Bears address cornerback by selecting 6-foot-1 Jaron Bryant out of Fresno State.
We very well could see the Bears in the market for a new starter opposite of Kyle Fuller this coming season. Many believe the team could part with Prince Amukamara in favor of saving some cash, as well as the fact that he hasn’t been as reliable a starter as the Bears need. Personally, I am tired of seeing Amukamara burned.
Now, it’s funny I say that, because Bryant isn’t exactly the fastest man in the draft. However, he’s incredibly opportunistic and physical. Would he come in and start? Probably not. But, he’d be a fantastic guy to have on the roster and groom into a potential starter in the future.
To begin with, the Bears would have a killer special teams player in Bryant. He is at the right place at the right time on many occasions. For example, take a look at this.
Bryant also had a game in 2018 where he returned two blocked field goals for touchdowns — yes, you read that right. It’s almost unheard of, but he did it.
The Bears would be getting a physical corner with great size, who could spend time learning and developing under Chuck Pagano while also contributing on special teams. As a 6th round guy, the Bears can’t go wrong here.
