Chicago Bears: 4 quarterback options linked to DeFilippo, Lazor

Andy Dalton, via trade or free agency
We have already talked plenty about the idea of Andy Dalton in Chicago, as I’m sure the majority of fans have already discussed. The connection with Dalton, of course, is with Lazor, who was Dalton’s offensive coordinator for a couple of years in Cincinnati.

While some may view Dalton as a bad quarterback, the reality is, he’s been underneath some pretty mediocre coaching and not surrounded by a ton of talent for most of his career.
Let me be perfectly clear: Dalton is an upgrade over Trubisky. That is not up for debate.
Dalton is a 3-time Pro Bowl selection, and although we can’t put much stock into that accolade (Trubisky was a Pro Bowl alternate in 2018, for goodness sake), it says something. He also has a pair of 4,000-yard seasons under his belt. While we’re at it, let’s acknowledge his four seasons with 25 or more passing touchdowns.
Knowing those numbers alone should make you understand he is an upgrade over Trubisky. Coming to Chicago, Dalton would also be playing alongside the best defense he’s ever had to back him up.
Cincinnati, in all likelihood, will end up releasing Dalton and saving over $17 million. They could try and trade him, but cutting him will leave them with zero dead cap, so teams will be smart enough to know they can sign him via free agency. However, if there happens to be another team interested, maybe the Bears float a late pick to Cincy in exchange.
