Chicago Bulls Rumors: Players who could be dealt before trade deadline
By Ryan Heckman
One Star Name – Zach LaVine
It seems like every year, but the debate rages on. Zach LaVine was indeed included in the CBS Sports report of players who could be traded before the deadline. This year, though, I might just believe it.
I wish LaVine played as good on the defensive end as he did on the offensive side, but that just isn’t the case. He can light it up on any given night in terms of scoring the basketball, but remains one of the worst defenders in the league at his position.
To be honest, I still want the guy to succeed on both ends. I want to see him develop. But, I don’t think he can be the focal point of a team. He’s a great second fiddle, so to speak.
With his $19.5 million average salary, he’s definitely not impossible to trade. For a team looking to add another dynamic scorer and make a title run, LaVine would be a perfect addition. The Bulls, though, would be looking for at least a first-round pick in return and then essentially be admitting themselves into another rebuild.
The current rebuild hasn’t worked, so why not try again? If Chicago can get some assets in return for any of these guys, I say go for it. In the end, the front office is likely to be shaken up this summer anyways.
