Chicago Bulls: 3 possible trade scenarios with Detroit Pistons
By Ryan Heckman
Trade No. 3
This is the big one. Detroit wants to tank, right? Well, they may still be able to. However, in this deal, they would get some talent in return if they are indeed listening to offers on Drummond.
The Bulls would land Drummond at a heft price. They would send LaVine, Wendell Carter Jr. and Ryan Arcidiacono to Detroit in order to land the All Star big man. There would be no picks involved, and it would be a bit of a risk for Chicago.
It’s risky because the Bulls are giving up two starters in order to gain a true star in Drummond. Depending on how Carter continues to develop and whether or not LaVine learns to play defense, this trade really could help the Pistons.
The big thing with Drummond, though, is that he can opt out of his contract this summer. Somehow, the Bulls would have to know Drummond doesn’t do that and decides to stay. Maybe he could be the one to help lure free agents to Chicago in the future, assuming the Bulls open up some cap space.
Detroit still gets to tank this year, though, with Carter currently injured and Griffin out indefinitely. Both teams take risks, here. But, it might just be a bigger gamble for the Bulls. Either way, it’s an interesting deal.
