Trade No. 3

It doesn’t feel this way to some, but Andre Drummond is still just 26 years old. The Detroit Pistons are determined to find a deal for him prior to the deadline, because he can opt out of the final year of his contract this summer and test free agency.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported recently that the Pistons are engaged in talks at the moment, and the Atlanta Hawks are a possible destination.

In this deal, the Pistons would send Drummond and Derrick Rose to the Bulls in exchange for Otto Porter Jr., Lauri Markkanen, Chandler Hutchison and a future first-round draft pick.

This proposed trade also assumes the Bulls could get a verbal hunch from Drummond’s camp that he would sign a long-term extension with the Bulls. If not, the deal is off the table completely.

For Detroit, they get a young forward in Markkanen who is on a cheap rookie deal, along with Porter, who can be a viable scoring option when healthy. Porter’s money matches up with Drummond, except that the former’s contract includes an option this summer as well.

The Bulls would be giving up a first rounder, but to pair Drummond with Wendell Carter would be something intriguing. Not to mention, their point guard problems are instantly solved by bringing in Rose for a second stint. At that point, they’d have to find a trade suitor for either Kris Dunn, Tomas Satoransky or Ryan Arcidiacono as well in order to avoid too many point guards on the roster.
