Tom Brady would ensure that the Chicago Bears’ competitive window remains open.

After the trade for Khalil Mack last season and the consequent contract extension that Mack was given, the Chicago Bears opened a Super Bowl window that general manager Ryan Pace was hedging his bets on.

Over the past two seasons, the Chicago Bears have boasted a top-5 NFL defense. The efforts of the defense have not been matched by the Bears’ offense over the course of the past two seasons and that would be the reason why the only thing that the team has to show for an elite-level defense is a Wild-Card loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last season.

Regression will continue for the Bears’ defense. If Pace wants to ensure that his bet on Mack and the Bears’ defense pays off, then he must ensure that the team has a playoff-caliber offense.

Beginning with the second half of the 2018 season and the entirety of the 2020 season, the Bears have not had a playoff-caliber offense.

Inserting Brady at the quarterback position would certainly provide the Bears with a quarterback and an offense that is playoff-caliber.

Brady is a master at the field-management game. Meaning, while on offense, Brady will certainly ensure that the time of possession is in the Bears’ favor and that the offense is not leaving the defense is a difficult spot to succeed.

The Bears have failed to take advantage of elite level defenses in the past. Look no further than in 2006 when they had an NFL leading defense while sticking with Rex Grossman at the quarterback position.  The disappointment that Bears fans had after the 2006 Super Bowl loss to the Indianapolis Colts would be the same disappointment that will surface if the Bears fail to have playoff success while having one of the league’s best defensive players in Khalil Mack.
