Chicago Cubs: 5 things to be excited about in 2020

A full season of Nico Hoerner
Though he only has 20 major league games under his belt, young infielder Nico Hoerner has Cubs fans everywhere excited about his future.
Drafted by the Cubs with their first round pick in the 2018 MLB Draft out of Stanford, Hoerner showed a lot of bright spots in his short tenure with the club last year, hitting .282 and slugging three home runs.
Ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the Cubs organization, Hoerner certainly has a bright and exciting future around him. You could argue that he had the most hype around his debut since Kris Bryant or Willson Contreras.
It’s likely that Hoerner will find himself on the big league roster in April, especially if he posts another solid spring training.
Hoerner and fellow youngster David Bote could split time at second base, which would be ideal so that Hoerner isn’t going from a shortened minor league season to a full 162-game slate.
The young prospect also brings youthful talent to the clubhouse and field, something that the Cubs have been lacking in recent years as the core continues to age.
It will be fun to watch Hoerner grow when given a full season to progress and learn at the highest level.
