The 2020 NBA Dunk Contest is in the works, and Chicago Bulls swingman Zach LaVine has officially been invited.

This year’s 2020 NBA All Star Weekend will be a special one for Chicago Bulls fans. The weekend’s events will be held in Chicago at the United Center in mid-February.

This year’s Bulls team hasn’t even lived up to what were very modest expectations for the 2019-2020 season. Although the Bulls are still close enough to care about getting into that very last playoff spot, most fans don’t care one way or another. If, by chance, they got in, they would play the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round — who currently own the league’s best record.

One thing to take Bulls fans’ minds off of another miserable season is to watch or attend this year’s All Star festivities. What would make that even better, is If the Bulls were represented in some fashion.

Saturday night is typically the most fun of the weekend’s activities, with the Dunk Contest taking center stage as the night’s final event. This year, Bulls fans might actually get their wish, too.

Zach LaVine has officially been invited to participate in the 2020 NBA Dunk Contest.

I understand the notion that LaVine would rather participate in the actual All Star Game — and in some respects, he is deserving of that nod. But, regardless of whether he makes the squad, LaVine should absolutely accept the invite to the Dunk Contest.

Already, there are two confirmed participants: The Los Angeles Lakers’ Dwight Howard and the Miami Heat’s Derrick Jones Jr.

The Memphis Grizzlies’ rookie point guard, Ja Morant, was also invited and is apparently considering it.

Boy, wouldn’t that be a fun bunch? Add LaVine to that mix if Morant indeed accepts, and you’ve got quite the show on display that night. Why should LaVine accept the invite? I’ll give you three easy reasons.
