Chicago Bears: Tom Brady a great fit, would help Trubisky improve

The Chicago Bears have struggled on offense and it is no secret. Even though the team is set on Mitchell Trubisky, bringing in Tom Brady could help the team win now and help the progression of Trubisky.

The first thing I’ll say is, the Chicago Bears rushed Mitchell Trubisky out way too soon. He should have never touched the field in 2017. Once Trubisky got Matt Nagy as his head coach, he has progressed as a player, but last year’s regression could show he isn’t ready to take that next step.

I believe Trubisky still can be a solid quarterback. Trubisky can be solid and good enough to take the Bears to a Super Bowl if he gets his career back on track. There are a few things to think about with him though. Maybe him sitting on year on the bench as Tom Brady‘s backup could help his career. Brady can teach him a thing or two about winning and becoming a better quarterback.

Brady might be out of New England next season. He still hasn’t signed a contract and during his post-game interview after the playoff loss to the Titans, he talked like he was already out the door. As a big Brady fan, that came off concerning to me. That means two things, he is either leaving or he is retiring. There is a chance he will be back as the Patriots’ starting quarterback next season though. They don’t have a backup plan just yet.

Brady signing with the Bears for a year or two could be the move the team needs. Where ever Brady ends up, that team will automatically become a Super Bowl contender. After the playoff loss Sunday, Brady will have something to prove. He is too much of a competitor to go out on a game-sealing pick-six. Brady said it’s “pretty unlikely” he’ll retire.

Just to add some numbers together. Brady has the most regular-season wins (219), most playoff wins (30), most career passing yards (85,959, including playoffs), he has the most career passing touchdowns (614, including playoffs), oh and he has six Super Bowl rings, not a big deal.

Brady is a quarterback that many players would want to play with. The Bears already have a generational defense. Allen Robinson is a pro-bowl caliber wide receiver that was snubbed this season from being in the pro-bowl. Brady-to-Robinson would be a great connection. Brady could also attract players like Antonio Brown. Brown has become the laughing-stock of the league on Twitter but one or two years with Brady could calm him down.

So, you bring in Brady and Brown, you already have a solid running back in David Montgomery. Adding Robinson to the mix gives them two solid wide receivers, the best quarterback to ever touch a football, with all them needing is a tight end to fix the skills position.

Trubisky as Brady’s backup for a season or two would teach him a lot. Brady could come in as a win-now quarterback but also Trubisky’s mentor. It could be a career-saving move for him.

At the end of the day, I love both players. I am satisfied with Trubisky in 2020. The only issue with Brady coming to Chicago could be that setting the team back a few years when he retires. Trubisky might want out after then and go play somewhere else.

There are two theories of thought here. Try and win now and still develop Trubisky off the field, or have him lose trust in the team and leave to play somewhere else. The chances of Brady coming to Chicago are slim-to-none. It would be interesting to see.

The best thing for Brady is to re-sign with New England and get weapons around him. Chicago wouldn’t be terrible though. Just a thought, but I’m still all-in on Trubisky.
