Chicago Bulls: 3 blockbuster trade packages with Minnesota Timberwolves
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves are enduring disappointing seasons, and each have a fair share of trade rumors circulating.
It is always an interesting conundrum when the NBA trade rumors begin circulating, especially for a team like the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Chicago Bulls, on the other hand, always seem to be involved due to a poor record and, quite honestly, not much hope.
The Wolves started the season fairly promising, winning four of their first five games. After a win over the San Antonio Spurs to move their record to 10-8 and still holding a playoff spot in the Western Conference, the season completely unraveled.
Minnesota went on to lose 11 in a row and, after breaking the streak, have not won more than one game in a row.
The team feels like it should be much better than this. With a guy like Karl-Anthony Towns, one of the league’s best big men, and a rejuvenated Andrew Wiggins, the Wolves should be better. It’s that simple. Yet, Minnesota sits at 13-21 and continued rumors have Towns unhappy with the Wolves.
In Chicago, meanwhile, the Bulls are nearly identical in record at 13-22 and still have a shot to sneak into the eighth and final playoff spot in the weaker, bottom half of the Eastern Conference. It’s tough to gauge which one of these teams should actually be better at the moment, mainly because the Bulls are trapped with a horrific situation in the front office and a head coach who belongs in DIII college ball.
With the trade deadline a little over a month away, will the Wolves or Bulls engage in any trade talks? The last time they did, the Bulls received Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and the rights to draft Lauri Markkanen in exchange for Jimmy Butler — a real blockbuster.
Could these two teams work something out once more, to shake things up? Allow me to throw a few wild and crazy ideas out there.
