Cornerback Trae Waynes, Minnesota Vikings

Going back to the idea of replacing Amukamara, the Bears could look at a familiar foe in Minnesota Vikings cornerback Trae Waynes. In five seasons with the Vikings, Waynes has surely had his ups and downs.

Early on in his career, he had a hard time turning his head and going for the ball. Speed was never an issue for him, as he can keep up with just about anybody in this league. But, simply not turning his head was one of the bigger weaknesses in his game — almost reminiscent of Kyle Fuller when fans wanted him gone.

This year, Waynes wasn’t necessarily an All Pro, but he was the Vikings’ best outside corner by a mile. In a year where Xavier Rhodes dipped in production even more, it was Waynes who had to pick it up a bit.

Waynes tied a career-high in tackles for loss with four and also finished with the second-highest total tackles of his career (58). He also forced two fumbles while recovering one.

Over the last four years, Waynes has defended a total of 38 passes, eight in each of the last two years and 11 in both of the two years prior.

I would prefer Ryan over Waynes, but at the right price, adding a little more speed to replace Amukamara with the latter wouldn’t be a bad move for the Bears.
