Guard Andrus Peat, New Orleans Saints

One of the top priorities for the Bears, this offseason, has to be improving the offensive line and creating a strong focus on improving the run game overall. I don’t think we got a chance to see the real David Montgomery this year because of how bad the offensive line played. There were virtually no holes to hit the majority of the time, and the Bears will have some work to do up front.

Replacing Kyle Long will be a big task, but his time as a Bears starter is likely over. Long hasn’t been able to stay healthy for the last four seasons, and Chicago needs a dependable body up front.

It’s kind of ironic to say that, and then move into talking about New Orleans Saints starting guard Andrus Peat. After missing almost two months due to a forearm injury which needed surgery, Peat recently returned to action for the Saints.

The 26-year-old guard is a former first-round pick out of Stanford, and my guess is that the Saints will do everything they can to bring him back. New Orleans has had a strong offensive line, historically, and Peat has been a big reason why for the last four years.

But, depending on how bad Pace wants to add to the line, he could make a bid for Peat. Adding a 6-foot-7, 316-pound Pro Bowl guard to help get the run game going would certainly be a statement move from Pace.
