Chicago Bears: Ranking team needs as 2020 offseason begins
By Usayd Koshul
1. Quarterback
This is the most obvious one on the entire list. While Ryan Pace stated that he’s ready to go into 2020 with Mitchell Trubisky being the starter, everyone knows that the Bears need bring in competition for Trubisky this offseason.
The easiest way for the Bears to go about addressing the quarterback position is by drafting a young player like Anthony Gordon on day three and then also bringing in a veteran like Case Keenum to compete with Trubisky.
This then allows for the Bears to go into 2020 and see how Trubisky can compete with someone legitimately pushing him for a starting job while Gordon continues to develop. If Gordon progresses, the Bears could view him as an asset down the road in a potential trade or even a future starter.
A veteran like Keenum will likely only be in Chicago for a year until the Bears once again have a first-round pick in 2021 and can select a quarterback again. However, until then, it’s going to be either Trubisky or a veteran.
Once again, quarterback play will make-or-break the 2020 Chicago Bears. The Bears cannot just expect Trubisky to turn things around in 2020 and all of a sudden develop into the franchise quarterback that they hoped he could become.
