Chicago Bears: Ranking team needs as 2020 offseason begins

3. Tight End
While the Bears have made their plans to address the tight end position unclear, they need to do something about it this offseason, especially considering Matt Nagy’s scheme relies so heavily on quality play from tight ends.
When it comes to figuring out how to address the tight end position, the Bears could use either free agency or the NFL Draft or both. For them, it would be best to use both because in free agency, names like Hunter Henry and Eric Ebron are projected to be available. Meanwhile, in the NFL Draft, names like Brycen Hopkins and Albert Okwuegbunam will be available for the Bears.
While the Bears paying a tight end big money in free agency hasn’t worked out, this time around, things could be different due to the fact that names who are more proven such as Henry. While Henry would end up getting a major deal, the Bears could always opt to sign some second-tier players such as Nick Vannett who could prove to be a quality replacement.
This will be one of the tougher decisions that the Bears need to make. While Ryan Pace seems to be confident in Trey Burton and Adam Shaheen, both have not proven that they are ready to come back in 2020 and totally turn things around.
