4. Safety

Another interesting position, the Bears can go one of two routes when it comes to addressing the safety position. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is set to be a free agent which means that the Bears will need to address the safety position again.

But here’s the deal: If Clinton-Dix resigns with the Bears, then he’ll likely do so on a three or four-year deal that will allow the Bears to keep most of their secondary intact from 2019. However, if he does no return simply because the Bears choose not to offer him a contract or because he gets a lucrative deal elsewhere, the Bears will need to address the safety position via the NFL Draft.

When you look at the 2020 free agent class, for safeties, there are some interesting names such as Sean Davis, Vonn Bell, and Darian Thompson that would be intriguing fits but when it comes to addressing such a need, the Bears would likely want to go the route of finding a day three draft pick.

This is why Ohio State’s Jordan Fuller makes for such an interesting fit. Fuller is a rangy safety who has proven that he can thrive in a variety of coverages. However, like any draft prospect, he isn’t perfect and needs to get better when it comes to tackling. Can he be a day one starter in the NFL? Maybe. However, his positives clearly outweigh his negatives at this point and the Bears would fin a future starter next to Eddie Jackson should he be there when they pick in the fourth or fifth-round.
