As we enter the New Year, the Chicago Bulls are far from contending for anything beyond maybe the final playoff seed.

Would you look at that — the Chicago Bulls are closing in on the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. As I type this, Chicago is just a game and a half back of the Orlando Magic for the final playoff spot.

Now, there are plenty of games to go and we haven’t even reached the All Star Break. But, the fact that fans have something small to hang onto at this point of the season is significant. Fans whom boast a positive outlook should be enjoying the fact that Chicago is close to playing in the postseason.

However, if you’re in the majority — that being, fans whom do not have a positive outlook on the team — you’re probably already looking forward to the offseason. You’re looking forward to seeing what this front office can do at the trade deadline and over the summer.

Heck, let’s be honest. If you’re one of the fans that’s sick of the way this team has been run for a few years, you’re hoping that the front office gets a complete overhaul, along with the head coaching position. Face it: Jim Boylen isn’t the guy.

But, here we are. It’s a new year and I’ve got some crazy ideas. Several rumors have been circulating lately about players who either want out of their current situation or are already available via trade. Some of these players can’t be dealt until January 14th due to them signing a free agent contract this past summer, so let that be known before we get started.

I said I had some crazy ideas. Let’s get into it. The following are three bold trade scenarios for the Bulls as they open a brand new calendar year.
