. RW. Chicago Blackhawks. Marian Hossa. 4. player. 94

Marian Hossa chased that Cup around for a while. He came up just short in Pittsburgh and just short in Detroit to end the 2000s. When he got to Chicago for the 2009-2010 season he would finally reach his goal of winning the Stanley Cup. In fact, he would win it three times in a span of six seasons. If you could his two Final appearances with Detroit and Pittsburgh, he played in five out of eight Stanley Cup Finals. He was probably right there with Hjalmarsson as the most underrated Hawks during the decade.

In fact, it is pretty clear that Marian Hossa is the best free-agent signing in the history of Chicago sports. There have been some other elite ones but Hossa came in and was the final piece to the championship puzzle. The thing is that when he got there they didn’t just win one or two. They won three in a span of three years. He was nothing short of the elite during his entire tenure.

He ended up playing for Chicago for eight seasons where he had 186 goals and 229 assists for 415 points in 534 games. Not only was he so prolific offensively, but his defensive game was also as good as any winger who ever lived. It is very hard for wingers to get consideration for the Selke Trophy but that is who Hossa was. He was as good defensively as the best defensive centers in the league. It is no wonder why the Hawks improved from a Western Conference runner up team to a Stanley Cup Championship team when he got there.
