After being benched in favor of Ryan Tannehill this season, Marcus Mariota likely is on the move from the Tennessee Titans this off-season. Could Mariota’s desire for a change of scenery lead him to the Chicago Bears?

Chicago Bears’ general manager has long had an admiration for Marcus Mariota of the Tennesee Titans.

Pace attempted to trade up in the 2015 NFL Draft to select Mariota before he was ultimately selected by the Titans.

Mariota’s career with the Titans has been filled with ups and downs before he was benched in-season this year by the Titans in favor of Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill’s career re-emergence with the Titans has made it inevitable that Mariota will look to sign elsewhere when he hits the open market in March.

The Bears could very well be a suitor for Mariota. Beyond Pace’s admiration for Mariota, the Bears’ offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich is Mariota’s former college head coach at the University of Oregon.

As the Bears look to address the quarterback position in 2020, it is entirely likely that Pace will target a young-quarterback that is looking for a change fo scenery. The goal being for the young-quarterback to come in and push, if not, beat out Trubisky at the quarterback position.

Mariota has a career quarterback rating 89.6 percent to go along with 96 career touchdowns against 44 interceptions. The issue is that Mariota has failed to take that next step over the course of his career.

The hope from the Bears’ end is that a change of scenery along with a reunion with Helfrich will lead to career resurgence for the former Oregon Duck.

Mariota is not a sexy option but considering the Bears’ situation, he certainly seems to be the most likely.
