4. Trading for Khalil Mack
One of the biggest reasons that the Bears had such a successful 2018 season, the Bears were in a prime position to trade for Khalil Mack just before the start of the 2018 season. Upon his arrival in Chicago, Mack would destroy the Green Bay Packers on national television.
Many Chicagoans likely weren’t awake when the trade for Mack was announced, however, once it was, a city that was already excited for the Bears season to begin took things to another level. The Bears would give up more than just two first-round picks for Mack. They’d also give up $141 million dollars and sign Mack to a six-year deal that would make him the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL.
In Chicago, it’s all about defense. Superstars like Mack are what the Bears and the defense are known for. While Mack is still creating a unique legacy in Chicago, he’s perhaps the most-liked athlete in Chicago and is one of the NFC’s best players.
From now as long as he’s in Chicago, Mack will always be the face of the Bears defense. He’s not just a guy who’s going to stuff the stat sheet and make big plays. He’s going to make the rest of his teammates better while also creating big opportunities for them to make plays.
